Lull Frequencies

With the essay “Another Art World“ by David Graeber and Nika Dubrovsky as a starting point, Uncharted Collective, formed in 2023 at Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, focuses on acts with underground methods of infiltration. Previous interventions include sound, singing- and interference performances during the opening of the Venice Biennale 2024, among other happenings initiated by the group and in collaboration with Biennale Urbana and Kunstuniversität Linz.

Lull Frequencies is a sound performance by Uncharted Collective, taking place during the Busan Biennale 2024. The project consists of a 55 minute long pirate radio broadcasted through a choir of radios scattered across the location of Hansung 1918. The transmitting of Lull Frequencies acts as a call for listening and simultaneously a collective call for action. The project circulates around the resonance of the lullaby: evoking as much the personal biography as it does universality. Through FM waves, the project fuses together liminal states: day and night, light and dark, awake and asleep, visible and invisible. Allegories of the global distribution of sound and information, are thus rendered visible in an act pointing to the collective bodies and voices of protest and change.
